Would you like to take part in the prestigious Cowes Week racing?
Saturday 1st August to Saturday 8th August 2009
Yes? Then read on!
We are offering places to anyone who would like to experience the magic of Cowes Week.
No previous experience is required, although some sailing knowledge will be helpful to the individual.
Come for just a single day or any combination of days as suits availability.
The racing will be within the Sigma 38 within class 5, a competitive fleet of evenly matched yachts.
Racing in class is one of the best forms of racing as the first over the line has won, with no handicaps to calculate.
We would like to give you the best experience of what it is like to be in the thick of an event. An opportunity to try your hand at several of the positions on a racing yacht; sheet trimming, helming, pit, bow, mast, hoisting and lowering sails, taking down the courses, tacking, gibing, and if you have the skills, then tactics and navigation.
Our Sigma 38 is run by two RYA Yachtmaster Instructors with a wealth of experience in sailing and racing combined with a love of instruction. Thus you can experience as much hands on in the running of the yacht as you feel able to do.
Our permanent berth is in Cowes Yacht Haven so there is no rafting on the outside, or wondering if you will get a berth for the night. Only a reserved space in the quieter part of the Yacht haven with all the facilities as well as the proximity of the most popular beer tent in Cowes Week!
